Frequently Asked Questions
Q. I would like to book a trip but I have no experience and I am not a strong swimmer. Will this be a problem?
A. Not at all. Anyone with moderate fitness can participate if they are able to swim two lengths of a standard 50 metre swimming pool. You will be wearing a buoyancy aid at all times and you will be trained under the guidelines of the British Canoe Unions Level One beginner's course.
Q. I am an experienced paddler, will your trips be challenging enough?
A. Yes you are very welcome, especially, if there's a few of you, We can tailor a new trip to suit your level (or that of the person in the group with the least experience.) Winds can create high seas at times and experienced paddles will enjoy breaking through and surfing the waves.
Q. What if I,am not sure how many days I want to go paddling?
A. You are very welcome to stay and paddle for as many days as you like, but we would advise booking at least two before you come out.
Q. Are non paddling partners and friends able to stay in the accommodation and are there things for them to do?
A. Yes, all the accommodation that we recommend is mostly close by our kayaking base in San Stefanos. Although you will book them independently, they all come with our recommendation and will suit different budgets, There are plenty of things for partners or family to do apart from chilling out on the beach; the beautiful local scenery is ideal for relaxed exploration on foot, by bicycle or on the local buses.
Q: If I holiday in Agios Stefanos or elsewhere in independently booked accommodation, can I still participate in your tours?
A: Yes thats fine. If you live or vacation anywhere in Corfu you or your friends can book a trip with us as long as we are not fully booked..
Q. How do I get to Corfu?
A. You can fly from most UK airports. Scheduled flights commence in March although the charter companies don't start until May. Check the Skyscanner price comparison site to find the cheapest fares.
Q. How do I get from the airport to San Stefanos?
A. A taxi from the airport (for up to 4 passengers) costs around 60 euros and takes about 40 minutes. We can arrange minibus transfers for larger groups as well as car hire - just let us know.
Q. Should I take out holiday insurance?
A. Yes. In addition, BCU qualified paddlers should have BUC insurance - approx. £45 a year. We will need the number when booking.
